Role As A Broker / Marketing Agent
|
 |
What
is the role of a Broker?
An
aircraft broker serves many functions. By definition, an
aircraft broker is charged with introducing buyers to
sellers. A more correct description for Sid John Associates,
Inc.'s role is as an Aviation Marketing Agent. We do much
more than make simple introductions. Although this brief
description sounds simple, it is quite an intensive process.
|
 |
How can introducing a Buyer be so intensive?
Unlike
many brokers, we do much more than simply introduce buyer
and seller. Sid John Associates, Inc. handles all aspects of
the transaction. From listing the aircraft to closing the
sale, we believe it is in your best interest to have us
intimately involved throughout the sales process from
listing through final delivery. Selling an aircraft does not
have to be stressful and take up a lot of your time.
|
 |
How does Sid John Associates view its role as
an aircraft broker?
Sid
John Associates Inc. is a company made up of aviation
marketing and acquisition professionals committed to
providing exclusive, dedicated service to our customers.
Many brokers simply list an aircraft with the listing
services or run an occasional ad, waiting for their phone to
ring. We feel this shortchanges the customer.
|
 |
Why use Sid John Associates?
We
take a very aggressive and proactive approach to marketing
aircraft. In order to make your aircraft "stand
out" against its competitors, we give it maximum
exposure to an international audience. Unlike other brokers,
we handle all negotiations (with the your guidance) and
contracting; legal review is greatly reduced. Using Sid John
Associates, Inc. allows you to negotiate through a
third-party. Many transactions would not have been
consummated if buyer and seller negotiated directly.

 |
Role As Acquisition Agent
|
 |
What is an Acquisition Agent?
In its
simplest terms, an Acquisition Agent is charged with the
responsibility of providing their client with options. Sid
John Associates, Inc. does this by researching the
marketplace, analyzing all available aircraft, and assisting
their client with the selection and negotiation for purchase
of the Right aircraft.
|
 |
Do I really need an Acquisition Agent? I'm
pretty good at negotiating deals myself.
The
advantages of using an Acquisition Agent are many, including
the ability for you to remain anonymous. You may not want it
known that you are shopping for an aircraft. Having an
acquisition agent also allows you to negotiate through a
third-party. Many transactions would not have been
consummated if buyer and seller were negotiating directly
|
 |
Why should I hire Sid John Associates?
Unlike
many Acquisition Agents, we do more than simply provide a
list of available aircraft, wait for the deal to close and
collect a fee. Sid John Associates Inc. differs from
other agents in many ways, not the least of which is that we
do not limit our client's options to only those aircraft
listed in Amstat, JetNet and trade publications.
If,
after providing all "available" aircraft on the
market to you for consideration, the Right aircraft is not
immediately identified, our research department will begin
contacting all the owners of that particular make and model
aircraft (or others) in an effort to uncover additional
aircraft that are soon to come to market.
|
 |
Is locating aircrafts all Sid John Associates
does?
No,
not at all! Once we have identified all possible aircraft,
our role as Acquisition Agent really begins. Selecting the
Right aircraft involves more than merely comparing prices.
We focus each aircraft acquisition on a "Best
Value" basis, meaning that we take many factors into
consideration, such as price, engine times, ownership
history, who performed the maintenance, if the aircraft flew
Part 91 or 135, cosmetics, etc. Only then do we make our
recommendations to you. Thereafter, we handle all
negotiations and contracting, thus minimizing your legal
review.
We
believe it is in your best interest that we be intimately
involved throughout the acquisition process, from research
through final delivery. Acquiring an aircraft does not have
to take up a lot of your time and be stressful. Over the
years, we have performed this same task very effectively for
our customers. We are pleased that so much of our business
comes from repeat customers. We
trust that if you choose us to acquire an aircraft, you will
be delighted with the aircraft we find

Role as Leasing Agent
|
 |
What
are the advantages of Leasing versus Financing (or
Purchasing with Cash)?
|
|
 | Leases
are off-balance sheet transactions. Monthly lease
payments are typically treated as expenses |
|
|
 | A
lease may have tax advantages for the lessee. Check with
your attorney or tax accountant to see if leasing is
your best option |
|
|
 | Less
money is required up-front. Most lenders require at
least ten percent down to finance an aircraft purchase.
With a lease, the company does not have to allocate
capital to an asset that does not generate income.
Leveraged purchases can reduce a company's borrowing
power for other opportunities |
|
|
 | The
lessee can more easily upgrade to another aircraft as
their needs change |
|
|
 | The
lessor takes market value risk so that if the market
drops, the lessor (and not the lessee) loses |
|
|
 | At
the end of the lease, the lessee can walk away, renew,
or in many cases purchase the aircraft |
